Caring for your piece
Silver darkens. That’s the metal, not a fault.
Polish with a soft cloth. Keep it dry and out of salt water when you can. Store it in its box.

Handmade jewellery & objects · Tasmania
01 / 04A slow swim in clear water.
Saltworks is a Tasmanian studio making jewellery and small objects by hand — carved in wax, cast in sterling silver, set with raw stones, finished one at a time.

Wax to sterling
01 / 04
Every piece starts as a shape carved by hand in wax. Slowly, over days rather than hours.
02 / 04
The wax gives way to metal. What comes out keeps every mark the hand left in it.
03 / 04
Sapphire, abalone. Uncut, as they were found — one glint per piece.
04 / 04
Filed, polished and numbered at the bench. Batch 03 · No. 4 of 6.

Batch 03 · On the bench now
Small batches mean small numbers. When a batch is gone it’s gone, and we say how many were made.

Batch 03 · 1 of 1
Oil on water, set in silver.

Batch 03 · 3 of 6
For everyday.

Batch 03 · 6 of 6
For salt-water days.
Batch 04
The next batch is on the bench. It goes up on Instagram first.

Of the coast
The colours and the shapes come from the shoreline, not from a trend board.
The four things we always are
Every mark on the work comes from a hand. The mark on this page too — drawn, not built.
Limited is literal. When a batch is gone it’s gone, and we say how many were made.
Salt water, shells, abalone, grey Tasmanian light. Facts about where things come from.
Few words, plain words, lots of space. The work does the talking.

Market day
Look for the pale linen cloth and the silver tags. Every piece on the table is one you can hold before it goes home with you.
